SYCAC participated in the conference “Sport for Peacebuilding in Syria: From Dialogue to Action,” represented by its Executive Director, Mr. Abdullah Sultan, and Syria Programs Manager, Ms. Walaa Alloush. The conference was held in Amman under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein.
The conference was organized by Generations For Peace, in partnership with the Olympic Council of Asia, UNICEF, the Olympic Refuge Foundation, and the Yusra Mardini Foundation, with broad participation from local and international actors.
SYCAC’s participation came alongside a diverse group of Syrian civil society organizations, representatives from the Syrian Ministry of Sports and Youth, and more than 150 participants including civil society leaders and international organizations. Discussions focused on the pivotal role of sport in promoting peace, strengthening community resilience, and supporting social recovery in conflict-affected Syrian communities.
During the conference, SYCAC shared its experience in utilizing sport as an effective tool for youth empowerment and for enhancing youth and community participation, highlighting the importance of locally led initiatives in building social cohesion and creating safe, inclusive spaces for diverse community groups.
SYCAC reaffirms its commitment to continuing its work alongside local and international partners to develop innovative, context-driven approaches that contribute to sustainable peace and support Syrian communities on their paths toward recovery and a more cohesive and inclusive future.
