As part of efforts to support sustainable environmental solutions and promote practice-based learning, Azolla cultivation ponds were established as production and learning models under the “Green Azolla – Green Hands” initiative in Afrin. The activity was implemented by the Environment and Peace Team with the support and supervision of SYCAC.
These ponds aim to provide a practical model for cultivating Azolla and utilizing it as an environmentally and economically sustainable solution, enabling local communities to learn about production methods, maintenance, and the use of Azolla to support livestock and improve livelihoods.
SYCAC’s role in this activity aligns with its commitment to advancing environmental sustainability by supporting community-led initiatives that rely on local resources, disseminate practical knowledge, and link environmental protection with income generation.
SYCAC believes that applied, community-based models form the foundation for scalable and sustainable solutions, driven by communities themselves toward a more balanced and sustainable future.
