As part of efforts to promote environmental awareness and foster a culture of volunteerism, community clean-up campaigns were carried out with active participation from young women and men in the villages of Lower Kafardali and Tel Ghazi in rural Afrin. The campaigns were implemented under the initiative “Hand in Hand to Protect Our Environment,” led by the Azar Youth Team with the support of SYCAC.
These campaigns provided a practical space to translate environmental awareness into daily behavior. Participants contributed to cleaning streets and public spaces while working collectively as a team, reinforcing a sense of shared responsibility toward the environment and the local community.
The activities highlight the critical role of youth as key agents of positive change and reaffirm that environmental protection is a collective responsibility—one that begins with simple actions and collaborative efforts that generate tangible impact on the ground.
The “Hand in Hand to Protect Our Environment” initiative represents a model of participatory community action and contributes to building a cleaner, more environmentally conscious, and sustainable community.
