SYCAC has successfully concluded the first training module within the Empowering Women and Youth as Key Partners in Building Resilient Communities in Northwest Syria project, with the final session of the Conflict Analysis Training, attended by 16 participants (12 females - 4 males) from local organizations.
The session covered several important topics:
- Conflict Intervention Mechanisms: Participants discussed both direct and indirect mechanisms for intervening in conflicts.
- Dialogue: The session explained the goals and conditions for dialogue, the relationship between dialogue and conflict, and the difference between dialogue and debate.
- Negotiation: Different negotiation techniques were explored, such as bargaining and cooperative negotiation, along with the basic rules of negotiation and the distinction between negotiation and dialogue.
- Mediation: The qualities of a mediator were discussed, as well as the difference between mediation and arbitration, and the roles of mediators versus arbitrators.
- Conflict Management Styles: Participants learned about the five main styles of conflict management, including competitive, cooperative, compromising, accommodating, and avoiding.
The goal of this training module was to enhance participants' skills in effectively managing conflicts using various strategies, contributing to more stable and harmonious environments within their communities.
