SYCAC organized two dialogue sessions in Idlib and Afrin, with the participation of a delegation from the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, alongside a group of community leaders, human rights activists, and female journalists.
The sessions addressed a number of key issues, most notably the civic space, transitional justice, and the recent People’s Assembly elections – their opportunities, challenges, and lessons learned. Discussions also touched on the most pressing community needs, providing an open platform for participants to exchange views on the challenges facing civic and political participation in Syria, and explore ways to enhance social stability and active citizenship in light of the current context.
These sessions come within the framework of SYCAC’s ongoing efforts to foster dialogue between local and international actors, and to promote constructive discussions on justice, good governance, and peacebuilding in Syria, while also presenting a realistic picture of the situation in Syria and the needs of its communities.
The outcomes of these meetings will contribute to shaping Switzerland’s support strategy for Syria, ensuring it aligns with the most urgent community priorities and needs.
