"It’s not just nature that is burning… but the hearts of its people too."

SYCAC is following with deep concern the ongoing wildfires along the Syrian coast, now entering their sixth consecutive day.
The fires have caused extensive damage to vegetation, wildlife, and private properties, amid significant challenges in containing their spread. These fires have now escalated beyond being an environmental threat—they represent a direct danger to food security and social stability in the affected areas.

At SYCAC, we believe that protecting the environment is inseparable from protecting human life. Standing in solidarity with communities affected by the fires is not only a humanitarian imperative but also a moral responsibility.

We therefore stress the urgent need to intensify regional and international efforts, and call on humanitarian actors and the international community to mobilize swiftly by providing the technical and logistical support required to help contain the fires, mitigate their devastating impact, and contribute to effective environmental response and recovery efforts.
