SYCAC organized a forum in November 2022 titled “The Prospects of Peacebuilding in Syria” in Gaziantep, Turkey. The forum is intended to be a space for dialogue. It was attended by 35 male and female peacebuilding actors, 22 in person and 14 online. They are representatives of 13 civil society organizations working on peacebuilding in Syria and eight international organizations. This was preceded by a series of dialogue sessions in various geographical areas where 63 male and female people participated.
The forum focused on identifying the gaps between Syrian civil society organizations on the one hand and between Syrian civil society organizations and donors on the other and analyzing them. As a result, the forum came up with a set of recommendations based on participants’ different perspectives, making them more comprehensive as they included civil society and youth, feminist, legal, and media perspectives to bridge existing gaps and develop mechanisms to involve individuals and communities in peacebuilding processes.
