As part of SYCAC’s continuous efforts to enhance the capacities of Community Committees in rural Afrin, the eighth and final training module titled “Protection” has been launched, with the participation of 12 trainees selected from the Community Committees across the four areas of rural Afrin.
📅 The 10-day training program offered a comprehensive curriculum combining both theoretical and practical components, aiming to deepen participants’ understanding of key protection concepts.
💡 Core Training Topics:
- Principles of Protection and Mainstreaming
- Child Protection, Accountable Actors, and the Code of Conduct
- Case Management Principles, Steps, and Referral Mechanisms
- Psychological Stress and Trauma
- Understanding Violence and Gender-Based Violence: Causes and Consequences
- Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA)
- Protection from Explosive Remnants of War and Their Types
- Protection and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities and Interaction Mechanisms
🌟 Training Objectives:
- Strengthen understanding of core protection concepts and their importance in humanitarian response
- Identify at-risk groups and their specific needs (women, children, persons with disabilities, the elderly)
- Equip participants with knowledge on child protection and the risks of violence
- Train participants on safe reporting and referral mechanisms in cases of violence and abuse
- Introduce various types of protection interventions
- Raise awareness on gender-based violence, abuse, and sexual exploitation
- Develop practical skills in handling explosive remnants of war
- Build capacity in providing psychological first aid
- Enhance the ability to mainstream protection principles across all stages of humanitarian work
