As part of the Local Governance for Safe and Inclusive Communities Project, SYCAC Organization conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in the town of Shin, in the rural countryside of Homs, bringing together local activists and community members for an open dialogue on the current state of local governance and civic participation.
This session reflects SYCAC Organization’s ongoing commitment to strengthening local governance by creating meaningful spaces for dialogue that bridge the gap between communities and local authorities, while empowering citizens and civil society actors to participate effectively in decision-making processes.
The discussion aimed to better understand the reality of local governance and civic participation in Shin, listening directly to community members' perspectives on decision-making processes and the priorities of their community. It represents an important first step toward promoting a more transparent, responsive, and inclusive model of local governance.
More than a discussion, this session is part of a broader effort to build a system of local governance that genuinely listens to people's voices and translates them into meaningful change on the ground.
