Area Focal Point – Fieldn Coordination

Project Manager | Reports to: Project Manager
Syria درعا,السويداء Full-time Job Start: 01 Aug 2026 Deadline: 17 Jul 2026

About the Organization

SYCAC is a non-profit Syrian civil society organization established in 2013, with dual registration in Turkey and Syria. Headquartered in Gaziantep with a Syrian base in Aleppo, it maintains field offices in Afrin and Homs and operates nationwide through its field teams. The organization employs a "triple nexus" approach — integrating relief, development, and peacebuilding — to empower women, youth, and marginalized groups in conflict-affected communities to lead their own recovery processes. It achieves this by fostering social cohesion and coexistence, supporting recovery and livelihoods, and protecting the rights of the most vulnerable.

Job Purpose

As part of a peacebuilding initiative implemented in partnership with an international organization and supported by an international donor, SYCAC is recruiting Area Focal Points for Daraa and Sweida governorates — one per governorate — to serve as the primary field presence and liaison between SYCAC's central team and local stakeholders. Each Area Focal Point will facilitate, coordinate, and monitor project activities in their assigned governorate, ensuring smooth delivery, timely reporting, and adherence to organizational and donor standards.

Key Responsibilities

Field Implementation & Coordination

  • Facilitate, coordinate, and follow up on project activities in the assigned governorate, including community dialogue sessions, capacity-building workshops, and consultations.
  • Identify, mobilize, and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including civil society organizations, community/peace groups, local leaders, and relevant local authorities.
  • Maintain regular follow-up with community peace groups in the assigned area.
  • Support the logistics of field activities, including participant outreach, venue arrangements, and materials distribution.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Collect and document monitoring data, activity reports, and field information in line with SYCAC's monitoring and evaluation framework.
  • Provide regular updates on the security situation, local context, and any challenges affecting implementation.
  • Submit monthly field reports and deliverables according to the agreed schedule.

Coordination & Compliance

  • Participate in coordination meetings and briefings with SYCAC's team as required.
  • Ensure all activities are implemented in accordance with SYCAC's Code of Conduct, Do No Harm principles, safeguarding standards, and donor requirements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding project participants, beneficiaries, and data, and promptly declare any conflict of interest to SYCAC management.

Deliverables (Monthly)

  • Field activity report covering all activities facilitated or supported during the month.
  • Monitoring data and attendance records for project activities.
  • Security and context update for the assigned governorate.
  • Any additional documentation requested by SYCAC's Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) team.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in social sciences, development studies, peace and conflict studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in field coordination, community engagement, or civil society work.
  • Strong knowledge of the local context and key stakeholders in the governorate applied for.
  • Experience working with civil society organizations, local authorities, or community groups.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to neutrality, Do No Harm, gender sensitivity, and inclusion.
  • Fluency in Arabic required; knowledge of local dialects is an advantage.

Additional Information

Interested candidates should submit an updated CV and a brief cover letter (max. one page) specifying the governorate applied for and highlighting relevant experience, along with contact details of two professional references. SYCAC is committed to equal opportunity and a safe working environment free from harassment, exploitation, and discrimination. Selection is based on merit and competencies; shortlisted candidates will undergo reference checks, and only those shortlisted will be contacted. Given operational needs, SYCAC reserves the right to begin recruitment before the closing date.
